Are you guys familiar with Bento boxes? It's a Japanese style meal, like what you have at Teaism, Mom, with a balance of veggies, carbs and protein. It's a super healthy way to eat and kind of fun too. This site: http://www.justbento.com/ has lots of great recipe ideas and all about making balanced bento meals. Chris is normally my personal chef, but as he's still relaxing with the family in Florida, I am scrambling to throw together some healthy meals for myself this week. I'm going to make Sarah's chili and polenta for my dinners, and also these two recipes from justbento for my lunches:
I plan to supplement with mixed wild rice, and have fruits and nuts for snacks. I might also make some sesame noodles for one of the meals instead of rice to add variety. Anyway, I'll let you all know how everything turns out, and let me know what you think of the site!

I just realized that if you click on the bentos tab and click one of the archives, such as this one, you'll get complete Bento meal plans. Nifty!: http://justbento.com/handbook/lists/bento-archive-list-1
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and there are LOTS of vegetarian and vegan bentos on there too!
